1. Does your moving company provide services in my area?
Yes, we service the entire state of Virginia.
2. What happens if you damage my stuff?
The state of Virginia has a minimum amount that all moving companies are liable for, At Quality Moving Services, we go above and beyond the state requirements, doubling the state minimum liability amount on all applicable damages, if it comes to that. In many cases, we are able to repair or restore any damaged items to like new status.
3. How much do your moving services cost?
We do price comparisons regularly and can guarantee our rates are comparable, if not better than our competitors. A normal 2000 sq ft home takes approximately one hour per room to move, so approximately $1500 on average.
4. Do you make specialty moves?
Yes, we have licensed companies we work with to provide expert piano and pool table moves in conjunction with your home move. We also have a dedicated junk removal service to help with decluttering prior to or purging following your move.
5. Do you conduct background checks on your moving staff?
Yes, each employee has a background check done prior to employment. We screen for sexual offenses and violent and/or theft related felonies. Along with our regular required insurances, we also have a surety bond that protects against employee theft.
6. Does it cost more to move on Saturdays and Sundays?
No, we do not charge extra for weekend moves. We typically do not schedule residential moves on Sundays to allow our movers a day of rest, but if a customer has a special need and we have staff available, we're happy to accommodate them.
7. How do you protect my furniture? ie. take beds apart, drawers, take tv's off the wall
We will break down beds, and remove feet from bulky items like dining tables or sofas, if necessary. All wood and upholstered items are wrapped in blankets and shrink wrap. Glass and TVs are wrapped in the standard blanket, shrink wrap and cardboard. We will take TVs off the wall.
8. How much work do I have to do to assist in the move?
Customers should be packed and ready prior to the movers' arrival. Dresser and desk drawers should be emptied and packed. Electronics must be disconnected and cords wrapped up, water and gas lines disconnected on appliances and no loose items or trinkets in the house. Jewelry and cash cannot be handled by the movers and should be secured prior to their arrival.
9. What does packing mean?
When a customer decides to do their own packing, they must pack all loose items and trinkets in the house. This includes dishes, cups, pots, pans, lamps, pictures, picture frames, trophies and anything that can fit in a box. These things must be packed securely, as our liability does not cover customer packed boxes. Glass and fragile items should be secured with newsprint, bubble wrap, or some other protection to avoid shuffling in the box. Just writing fragile on boxes doesn't garner special attention. If anything is so fragile that it can't be moved and stacked regularly with the other boxes, it should be set aside and moved either by the customer, or with special instructions to the mover.
10. Does Quality offer packing services?
Yes, as a seperate service, Quality can handle packing also, so that the customer has little to no work to do in preparing for their move.
